Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Wayne Shorter. That is all.
Also, check the piano cover this guy made. Truly amazing!

South Park
I don't know how many of you have seen the latest South Park episode yet, so I'm not going to spoil anything for the ones who haven't.
There's something else though, and I'm confident that I'm not the only one who thinks this. Have any of you noticed that South Park used to be a lot better? I mean, it's not a bad show now, but it used to be freaking hilarious.
Last night's episode was one of my least favorite South Park episodes. What's weird is that I thought almost every episode up to season 13 was great, but the second half of season 14 -especially the Nascar episode- just didn't do. At first I thought I was just outgrowing the humor, but then I watched some of the earlier episodes and they still made me laugh hard.
I don't know man, but I hope future episodes will be as good as they used to be.
If you have seen the latests episode, tell me what you thought of it in the comments!
Of course, since this is a music blog, I will post some South Park related music. (By the way, did you know that Trey Parker, one of the creators of South Park majored in music? He really is a great musician and songwriter, albeit fairly absurd music.) Check it out!
What would Brian Boitano Do? -original version
And the punk version (played by DVDA, Trey Parker sings and plays guitar and Matt Stone plays drums)
And of course, who could forget 'Uncle Fucker'?

Time to make my blog a little interactive ;D
I'm currently wearing Adidas shorts and a Pink Floyd tshirt. What do you guys think my character would be like, judging from his clothing?
Also what are you guys wearing right now and what would your character be like?
Mad About You
Alright, my apologies for not updating my blog yesterday. I have a good excuse though!
So as I was sitting at my computer, about to update my blog my phone went all beepity boopity shing shang ramalamadingdong (Bill Cosby Style) and I was reminded that I had to go donate blood. You see, I do not do this because I'm a good person or because I want to help the needy. I donate blood so that I get drunk more easily. Don't judge me kthxbai.
So when I got back I didn't feel like blogging. Didn't feel like anything really, so I just went to bed and fell asleep.
Anyway, as yesterday was Monday and Monday is the day that I post nice music made by Belgians, here we go.
Hooverphonic is one of my favorite Belgian bands and 'Mad About You' is my favorite song of theirs. The used to play a mix of new wave and trip hop but started to make more poppy stuff over the years.
One thing is for sure though: the singer has a magnificent voice. Shame though that she doesn't play with the band anymore. The current singer is great too, but it's just not the same. Ah well, let's just enjoy this record!

HEAVY METAL OMFGZZZ
Today I got some heavy metal for you guys. But don't worry, it's not the kind with songs about raping churches and setting babies on fire.
It's one of the bands that made metal famous: Black Sabbath. And no, I'm not going to post Paranoid or War Pigs. Those are far too famous and after all the purpose of this blog is to introduce the followers to music they haven't heard before (well some of you probably have heard this before but whatevaah i do wat i wahnt!)
NOTE: this is strictly Black Sabbath with Ozzy as singer, I do like the work with Dio too, but I just like Ozzy's Black Sabbath better.

Jamiroquai + NYANYNAYNAYANYAN
Alright, so I was hanging around a bit on Wikipedia, you know how these things go and for some reason I ended up on the Acid Jazz page, which caught my interest. I read a bit about the genre itself and then went on to a list of artists. One band immediately caught my eye; Jamiroquai (hey that rhymed). I had heard about this band countless times but never got to look them up. Well, I decided that that was an appropriate time to do so, so I did.
And I was not disappointed that I did. In fact, I'm disappointed that I didn't look them up before. But hey, complaining about what's in the past isn't going to help anybody so I'm glad I eventually discovered them.
Also, I don't know how the weather is where you guys are at, but over here (in Belgium) the weather is going to be just fine for the rest of the week. Perfect weather for the happy music of Jamiroquai. Enjoy!
You guys might know this if you have seen Napoleon Dynamite, this is the song he dances to during the skit after Pedro's speech. An awesome scene imo.
Oh and no bullshit about Napoleon Dynamite in the comments; that movie was the bomb and I will not tolerate any mean things about it D:
And this song is just plain awesome. No need to say anything more about it.
I don't have a cute animal picture for you guys today BUT no worries, I got something that's perhaps even better!!!!one!!!11!!!!!onehundredeleven!!1
(post your score in the comments below, I'm currently at 650 seconds and still going)

420 Day
The weather is awesome outside, so I'll keep it short. Today is sunny, barely any wind at all and most importantly: it's 420 day. Yes, sir. April 20th, aka 4/20 is international marijuana day. And who am I to not celebrate a day like that?
Following are songs that have something to do with weed.
Not a big fan of this guy myself, but I know a lot of you guys like him, so why not ;D
Kitty is celebrating 420 day, too :D

I won't update my blogs today because the weather is incredibly nice.
I will spend my day outside and I suggest you do the same.

Black Box Revelation
Today is Monday which of course means yesterday was Sunday and Sunday comes after Saturday. But it also means that today I will present to you some bootiful moosix from my own country.
And because I haven't quite decided yet what song/band is worth my attention, I'm going to take a few minutes to think about it.
*takes a few minutes to think about it*
Alright, I think I found just the band you guys will like: The Black Box Revelation. Yeah, I know, possibly one of the best band names ever, right? Well, their music is pretty sweet too! In fact, they're just two guys; one on guitar and vocals and the other one on drums and to be completely honest: they kick some serious ass and their shows are always great!
Following are two of my favorite songs.
This is their first single I think. Probably my favorite BBR song.
Also a very awesome song, especially when they play this live!
As you see: bluesrock without any bullshit, just two guys doing their thing, and doing it good.
Oh and by the way, these guys are good, they even toured through Europe supporting Eagles of Death Metal for some time!
I have no idea what this is supposed to be but it's cute as hell.

Erika ]-∞ , 3[ PryON
Today, I have a very special music tip for all y'all: a song by a fellow blogger named Erika. You may or may not know her blog, but in case you don't: you can find her blog here, here, over here, here and last but not least here.
Also here.
She wrote the song for her friend, PryON, whose blog you can find here.
I seriously recommend both blogs because they are updated frequently and always have fun stuff to read. Be sure to check them out!
Oh and if you can be arsed to, click the donate button on Erika's page and donate some money so Erika and PryON can meet up and do fun stuff (they really, REALLY like each other ;D )
Anyway, here are the amazing, awesome songs, written by Erika.
The original version.
The enhanced version, better voice (enhanced by PryON himself!).
And finally, Erika made a little remix of her song!
I hope you liked it and once again, check their blogs out!!
(Oh and by the way, ]-∞ , 3[ is basically the same as <3 but for some reason I couldn't put the < sign in the title so I used math to solve a real life problem, who would've ever guessed that would come in useful one day?) OMFG almost forgot today's kitty! Here you go: Now that I have your attention, my new blog is worth checking out too! Check it out if you like smooth jazz melodies. Please?

No music today because I feel like crap (I think I might have a mild case of food poisoning T_T )
I just couldn't say no to mom's fish casserole, she put so much work in it. Well, now I'm regretting it.
Anyway, here's something awesome for you guys to look at.

CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT MY AWESOME NEW BLOG
If you comment and follow you get a free imaginary piece of candy! Yum yum yum!
Since most of you guys liked the post rock I have showed you on the blog in the past, I figured I'd show you some more.
Today's song is a song by a particularly unknown band by the name of Jakob. I burned some post rock songs on a CD yesterday to jam along with and this song was by far the best one. To be honest, THIS is the kind of music they should use in movies and video games. Enjoy!

Avril 14th
Woohoo! I hit 200 followers overnight :D
Thanks for all the support guys, it really means a lot to me!
I also have some other cool news: I started a new blog, on this blog you will find jazz to chill out to after a long day. So click, kick off your shoes, pour yourself a nice scotch, sit back and relax!
Anyway, as today is April 14th, I got a little something something for y'all. A song named Avril 14th. Some of you know this song, other's don't, but I'm sure everyone will agree that, however short, it's very beautiful. The song is by Aphex Twin, a guy who (for those who don't know him) usually doesn't make music like this at all. If there's any interest in his other work, I can blog about that some time too!

The Sore Losers
Last week I said that I'd post Belgian music every Monday. Well guess what? It's Tuesday and I didn't post anything yesterday, so I'm gonna post the Belgian music today. Why? BECAUSE IM A TOTAL BOSS, THAT'S WHY.
So one of the bands I really, really like are The Sore Losers. They're fairly new but they are gaining popularity quick. Another reason why I like this band is because a friend of mine plays in it (bass) and the drummer is a guy I used to go to school with. They play no-nonsense rock songs, no bullshit, just rock n roll, the way I like it. They have 2 music videos out now too, let's watch 'em, shall we?
This is the first of their songs that got a bit of airplay. If you don't like the music, at least admit that the music vid is awesome. Personally, this is my favorite song of theirs.
0:42 DAT ASS. Oh and the 4 fellas at the bar are the band members in case it wasn't clear.
Oh yeah, same question as yesterday: should I go watch Black Swan or The King's Speech tonight? So far the score is
Black Swan: 3
The King's Speech: 1

The soldier we needed you to be
Don't have a lot of time today, so I'll post some music of Halo: Reach (which has some pretty fucking good music). Enjoy!
Music of the title screen.
Music during the epilogue, when Dr. Hasley talks about Noble Six (the main character).
By the way guys, I'm going to catch a movie tomorrow night, which one should I watch: Black Swan or The King's Speech? Let me know in the comments :)

Jimi
One of my favorite guitarists of all time. Most people know his name, most people know his most famous songs, such as Voodoo Child (Slight Return), All Along the Watchtower (which originally was a Bob Dylan song), Purple Haze and Hey Joe.
But there are so many good Jimi Hendrix songs that aren't well known, so I figured I'd post some of them.
This is one of my favorite Hendrix songs. It's the last track in his first album, 'Are You Experienced?'. Unlike many other Hendrix fans, this album is my favorite Hendrix album, while most people will prefer Electric Ladyland. Don't get me wrong, I love his later work too, but the bluesy chops n lick from Red House simply blow me away every single time.
The aforementioned Red House.
Now, Bold as Love is most definitely the masterpiece of his second album, 'Axis: Bold as Love'. I think this piece really represents the spirit and mentality of the hippies; dreamy, perhaps even a bit trippy.
Noteworthy: the sound effect that's used rather extensively in the last part of the song is called 'flanger'. Jimi claimed to have heard that sound in one of his dreams and had to use it in a song. The more you know ;)

About last night
You guys. Let me tell you about last night. My original plan was to just go to a buddy of mine at like 10 pm. Around 1pm another guy texts me. 'Hey, you wanna go make gunpowder with us later?'. The pyromaniac in me: 'Fuck yeah!'. So I went to that guy's place and indeed, some guy managed to get a bag of sulphur and a bag of potassium nitrate. Now all we needed was charcoal, so they had bought a bag of charcoal for a grill. Only problem: we needed powder and because none of us had the right tools it took us about an hour to pulverize the charcoal. So when that was done, we decided to take off.
We got on our bikes and went to a forest, when one of my friends says, 'Uhm, yeah, we haven't quite told you the whole story. The place where we're going to set gunpowder on fire, there's security now because some motherfucker set two cars on fire there 3 weeks ago.'
But I felt like fighting da powah a little bit so I went through.
[insert story about a beaver being in that forest] (my friend is a biologist and couldn't shut up about it)
But then came the moment: we made a line of gunpowder, lit stick on fire and with the burning stick we lit the gunpowder. Result: epic firework. And I mean EPIC.
It was getting rather late, so I had to go chill with my other friends. I hop on my bike, turn around to tell the other 2 guys I'm leaving when I see the crazy motherfucker throwing boric acid on the gunpowder. Green flames, it was awesome. Also illegal but who gives a crap.
Anyway, then I went to my other friend. He tells me there's a change of plans. I decide to go with the flow. Turned out we went to a cantus, though a very chaotic one. But it was cozy and we had fun (this event took about 2 hours).
We also invited some other guys to come along, which they eventually did. So when the cantus ended, we weren't done for the night. Yet. One part of the group decided to go party some more and another part decided to smoke a bowl first, then party. I was with the guys that wanted to smoke a bowl first, so one guy of the other group says, 'If you smoke now you're never going to party because you're too fucking stoned and lazy.'
And so we made a bet. If I didn't go partying after I smoked, I had to randomly walk into one of his classes and start kissing his feet like a crazy obsessed weird guy, BUT, however, if I did come partying, he had to kiss my feet. Seemed like a fair bet to me.
They went partying, me and a friend went to another guy's place first. This guy told me they didn't have any weed, but they had something better. We smoked hookah with skuff (that's about 90% pure THC powder. 'Does that hit hard,' I hear you ask. Yes, it does hit hard. So we're just lying there, chilling to some music, eating a snack.
Eventually I got up to leave for the party. The guy whose place we were at decided to go to sleep though. So it was just me and another guy.
Next problem: I didn't know where the party was yet. So I called the guy whom I made the bet with, but he didn't answer; his phone was dead.
I'm still not sure why I did what I did next, but we decided to smoke another bowl at my place. So we did.
Then I called another guy who told me where they were going and on my way I get called again. They were going somewhere else. So I went there, but on my way he calls me again, telling me there's been a change of plans again.
I finally arrive at that place and some big Russian guy is the guard. I can see he's randomly selecting people he doesn't let in (okay, maybe I was a bit paranoid at this point). I put on my best poker face and walk in. The Russian guy stops me.
'OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD HE KNOWS'. He gives me a mean look and says, 'You can't wear a hat in here son.'
O_O okay. Then I went in there, finally found them, but they were just leaving. This made my part of the bet incomplete, because I came to the party, but I didn't actually party. Okay, fair enough, but it wasn't completely my fault that I was late, as he didn't answer his phone.
We called it a draw.
Then I went to McDonalds, ate a fuckhuge meal and went to bed.
Somehow this seems appropriate for song of the day.
UPDATE: song by someone I know, thought I'd share :)

Mobb Deep
"The Mobb comes equipped for warfare, beware of my crime family who got 'nuff shots to share for all those who wanna profile and pose."
That's right. Today's music is gangsta rap. You got a problem with that, huh bitch?
Anyway, one of my favorite rap groups has always been Mobb Deep. The group consists of two members, Havoc and Prodigy. Not sure why I like them so much, as I'm not at all into hiphop, but some rappers just have a certain je ne sais quoi. Especially Mobb Deep; phat beats, crime rhyme, their raps are so fluent.
What's a shame, though, is all the beef they had. I believe they had beef with 2Pac, 50 Cent and some others too. Perhaps those beefs are a bit staged, who knows.
I got introduced to Mobb Deep by an Egyptian guy who had always lived in Miami and who was a rapper himself. Believe me, he was good; made his own beats (good beats) and was awesome at freestyling. His name was Omar and he is one crazy motherfucker, I can tell you that much.
Here are 3 of my favorite Mobb Deep songs:
This is their biggest hit, Shook Ones pt 2. The instrumental version was used in the movie 8 Mile in the final rap battle. I'd post the vid here, but that would be spoiling the movie for those who haven't seen it. So if you haven't, GO WATCH IT NOW.
This song is a bit more laidback. And yes, maybe these guys aren't the most female-friendly people out there, but hey, enjoy the song and quit yer bitching.
This song is just plain hardcore hiphop. I love the aggressive beat and lyrics, THIS is what hiphop is about, not about being a milli a milli a milli. Eat shit and die, Lil' Wayne.
(Btw I have no idea why Havoc is holding a porn magazine.)
Kitty gotz teh crabz.

If These Trees Could Talk
Another great post-rock band. Their album 'Above the Earth, Below the Sky' is simply amazing. Best way to listen to this music: all the lights off, sit back, relax.
Hope you like it, folks. Wink out!
btw: I'm gonna buy the Sennheiser headphones :)

Signs
Today's song is a song I discovered only yesterday. Someone linked me to it because he thought I'd like it. Boy, do I, I freaking love this song. It's so trippy and awesome :D
I don't think I posted triphop before, have I?
Btw guys, I want to buy headphones but I can't choose. Should I go for good-looking okay-sounding ones or okay-looking good-sounding ones?
Those are the good looking ones.
Those are the good sounding ones.
EDIT: I'm not geting beats by Dr Dre.
Help me out please guys :D

Belgium, fuck yeah!
As some of may know, I'm a Belgian fella. That's why I thought, why not put some Belgian music on my blog? We have, like every country, some awesome musicians and bands. that's why I decided to post (modern) music from my country every Monday. Hurray!
The band dEUS, for example, is probably the 'biggest' Belgian band. I would say they play alternative rock with influences from folk and punk to jazz and prog rock; it's pretty hard to actually put one name on their music genre.
Not a lot more to say about those guys, except that they play awesome live shows and that the guitarist went to the same school I went to :D
Here's a few of their songs.
This is probably my favorite dEUS song. The lyrics so sad and full of melancholy, and those emotions are perfectly expressed in the music itself. Have a listen and you'll know what I mean :)
This song was their first number one hit. I can tell why, what a song amirite?
In all honesty, if these guys were born in America, they'd probably be huge by now.
Hope you like it, folks. Wink out!

Van der Graaf Generator
VdGG is a progressive rock band from Manchester that I personally really like, though most of the people I know think their music is a bit too 'experimental'. But seriously, their music is simply brilliant. I'll show you what I mean with an excerpt of the lyrics of 'Interference Patterns'.
Everything's formed from particles,
all that you see is a construction of waves.
Hold onto both thoughts,
under general relativity
the cradle connected to the grave.
Luminous Aether dissipates,
Michelson-Morley with a point to disprove,
Millikan oil drops
and the cargo-cult science evaporates,
improbable physics on the move.
Yeah, as you probably can tell from this, they're scientists.
Last month, their new album 'A Grounding in Numbers' came out, more specific on March 14th, or 3/14, or Mathematics day. And wouldn't you know, one of the songs on that album is called 'Mathematics'.
The members of this band are kind of old though; the band first formed in 1967, split up in 1972, got back together in 1975, split up again in 1978 and finally got back together in 2005.
Umm, not really much more to say about them. Altough maybe I should warn you that the musc has a rather 'dark' atmosphere. Enjoy!
This is only part one, if you like it, you can find part two on youtube :)

Fatboy Slim
Most people have heard of this man, know a couple of his most popular songs, but I'll post some of his more unknown songs in this post. Sure, 'Right here, right now' is a bomb-ass song but everybody knows that. Same goes for 'Rockafeller skank'.
This song is from his first album, 'Better living through chemistry', and it's one of his most trippy songs. Absolutely love this song.
Awesome song for a sunny day like this and the clip is amazing too.
Once, when I was leaving my place with my iPod on shuffle, this song came on and the part at 1:08 started exactly at the same time I went through the door. It was awesome, felt like I was in some kind of movie ;D
Last, but most certainly not least, the song 'Fucking in Heaven', which is just the phrase 'Fatboy Slim is fucking in heaven' repeated OVER9000 times, but on an incredibly phat beat. It's nearly impossible not to love this song. This was the first Fatboy Slim song I ever heard and I immediately loved it.

I don't know about you guys, but I like to listen to music just to chill out. I mean, just sitting on the couch or in your comfy chair, a tasty beverage (on the rocks of course), and a nice joint if you're into that. No better way to relax alone in my opinion.
Here I'll list some of the music that I find perfect for relaxing.
This song is great for playing late at night. Chet's voice has something magical, I just can't explain. It's so soft and smooth yet it doesn't immediately put you to sleep.
This is also an awesome song. It was written by the Dutch ska/reggae/dub band Doe Maar. I gotta say, if their lyrics were in English, they probably would've been a lot bigger. But they stuck to their roots, which is also admirable.
Anyway, this song is about Dutch weed. The song tells us how we should grow our own weed plant. Pretty funny if you understand all the lyrics :p
You guys into hiphop? Here's some oldskool shit for y'all! I absolutely love this song, it's so chill and for me it represents those awesome summer days when it's warm and you don't have shit to do. You know those days? Yeah, they're the best.
Not to mention that there are fricking breakdancing animals in the music vid.
Finally, a song that I have only known for about a month, but it's already one of my favorite songs ever. There's something enchanting about this song, it's so incredibly happy that it just makes you smile for no apparent reasong. The guy who made this is really fucking brilliant, I can tell you that much. I sent this song to one of my friends who asked me if I ripped this from God's iPod xD
It's a baby sloth :3
